Fabia 1.2 3 cyl petrol : Fault code G60

Featured Replies

Hi All

Im Paul and new to the group, looking for some advise.

My brother in law has a 2006 Fabia 1.2 Petrol, engine light is on, ran a VCDS check and it showed G60 camshaft sensor intermittent fault, reset all faults, took the car for a run and within 30 mins the light was back on.

im proposing on replacing the camshaft sensor, is this a diy job ?, is there a how to for this job on the forum

TIA

Paul

Cam sensor is referred to as G40 on this engine as far as I know? Can you refer back to the VCDS scan results for the exact fault number?

If it really is cam sensor, then yes, easy DIY job I think, certainly on the 12-valve engine that I'm familiar with. Is this car 6-valve or 12-valve?

Equally easy on either according to a photo of a 6-valve engine I just looked at on ebay.  One electrical connector to unplug, one Allen bolt to undo (watch out, it might be a weird 5.5mm size). Top of the rocker cover towards nearside end, three-way connector.
