Upgrade Drivers seat

Featured Replies

Guys, I’ve got a 2012 Octavia, 250k on the clock, it’s a taxi as the drivers seat is completely destroyed internally, has no comfort at all in it, look wise it’s still in good order with no rips, I could buy new foams but would like a more supportive seat and I’ve found one from a 2015 MK3 Octavia, question is will it bolt straight in? I understand the seatbelt plug may be slightly different but that’s not a big issue to deal with.

Any ideas if Mk3 seats fit?

Just buy new foams and it will be perfect. Buying seat of different vehicle it's not a good idea.

As said it’s a 250k taxi so just looking for the cheapest fix for it, picking up a second hand seat seems like best option. However I’ll give TPS a call for price on seat foams

I'd get my measuring tape out.

price on seat foams

Just FYI skoda-parts.com lists these for about 90 Euro here.  For comparison a quick shufti on fleabay offers seats at between £80-120 or so.

I replaced the cover and foam on my MK1 with items taken from another vehicle in a breakers yard, it was relatively easy but time consuming, there was nothing to sag but the foam so unless the MK2 is different then its an easy cheap job to do.

I would not pay €90 for a piece of foam, do Skodaparts.com buy up the stock when VAG no longer stock it and then sell at a much higher price?

My reason for asking is I will need a radio surround faceplate for when I fit a new head unit, I have the part number and VAG were charging £5.50 for it, maybe its no longer a stock line but the internet brings up sellers like Skodaparts.com for €50 or €100.

How many years do VAG/Skoda hold spares for vehicles?

Have the same issue on mine nearly same miles. Something in the centre has been pressing into my tail bone and giving me back issues. Drivers seats are expensive and hard to get hold of for less than £80-120. I was told the foam from the front passenger is the same as drivers. I have foams available but not tried to swap yet. Hope you sort it out. Watch out for dodgy airbag connector on drivers seat another weak point.

I would forget about foam replacement as skoda seats are not the best for comfort anyway.   Audi do much nicer seats and a drivers seat from an Audi A3 (3P) should bolt straight in.

I've tried VW EOS and Audi A3 ones - and both are nicer compared to the skoda ones.  The are loads of cheap driver seats on E-bay if you are not bothered about having a odd seat.

Did you mean an Audi A3 8P?  Are the seats the same between standard 8P and Sportsline?

Yeah - meant the mk2 version of the audi A3

I tried these type of seats before and found them to be very comfortable

Gents, I’ve found this seat and I’m keen to purchase it, it’s apparently from a 2017 Audi S3, I’ve seen Audi S3 seats in caddy’s, Octavia’s before but unsure if the 2017 will fit my 12 plate Octavia, I understand the airbag wire will

need to be modified but that isn’t an issue

I don't see why not as I've seen members use octavia Mk3 seats in a octavia mk2  (both Octavia Mk3 and 2017 Audi S3  - share the same MBQ platform so don't see why not)

You may need to swap the airbag connector over by doing a bit of soldiering but the only thing to watch out is any electrical adjustment on S3 seat as this will add to complications of connecting up the electrics which is never straight forward on canbus wiring system.
