I was wondering if anyone could educate me on how easy it is to replace all 4 springs on a skoda fabia mk2 and whether or not anyone has a step by step guide? Ive done a bit of research and the rear seems easy enough, i am less confident with the front however as it looks as though more components need to be dissassembled and there doesnt seem to be much on the web about them. Also, has anyone had any experience with the H&R set (40mm front&rear), how is the ride etc? These were the ones i was leaning towards as it was the lowest drop i could find! Any help/advice would be appreciated! cheers, rees.

Hi Rees BMACs on YouTube does a video of changing the springs on a VW golf which isn’t much different from the Fabia, still all the same principles and still a VAG. The rear is pretty straight forward however the front is more complicated, spring compressors needed and takes more time. The H&R with 40mm drop in my experience needs shorter drop links as the tyres can start to create uneven tyre wear in some cases with the original drop links. If your car is the Fabia reaction you may want to consider 17” wheels as to the 16s that we’re put on from new to close the gap a little more.

Thanks for the advice, appreciate it! Would an allignment not fix the tyre wear?

No particular experience of H&N springs, but I fitted Sachs springs a few weeks ago. If the shocks are original, and depending on mileage, then look to renew at the same time. Again, it's all money, but does transform the ride.

 

If money is tight, then get new top bearings for the fronts, and absorbing bump stops all round.
