how to get inside headlight?

Featured Replies

Got water (and water stains ☹️) inside my driver side headlight.

Anyone know how to get inside them? It looks like the projector could be removed using four torx bolts. Can anyone confirm?  My concern is messing up the alignment...

I don't see why there's any reason you should mess up the alignment just by removing / replacing the holder.

I had my whole Audi headlight out a few times including removing the bumper and dismantling the internal bulb housing on the Adaptive Xenon's, without any alignment issues upon rebuild.

The little blue connector just underneath the bulb holder was the reason i had pain in the arse issues with mine.

It was connected to a tiny pcb of which activated the solenoid for the high beam, and had come ever-so slightly loose and so only worked intermittently.

Even though i never used the high beam and the headlight and bulb all worked absolutely fine it was still an mot failure, and it was impossible to repair permanently due to the adaptive nature ie its internal movement disturbing any repair. That was why i had to do it a few times.

After about the third time i was getting the bumper off in record time, Lol.

I soooooooooo wanted to superglue the joint but there was no way i could ensure it was working whilst the repair was made and if i had glued it and it didn't work, then that would have buggered it altogether, and would have been about £1000 for a replacement.

At a time when almost everything I buy including car parts are much cheaper and easier to source than 30 years ago we have headlights that cost £1000.

I will never buy a newer car than my current one and may even go back many years when I have to change.
