Auto Lights.

Featured Replies

So here's the Question.

I've noticed, since yesterday that when the light switch is in " Auto " the orange light on the switch is Lit as it should be but the green light below it is also lit.  The dipped beams is not on so the green light shouldn't be on and the 2 led lights near the mirror are also lit even when the headlights are not on, but the switch says they are.  I coated the windscreen with rain X yesterday. " Do you think this could be affecting the light sensor. the lights are  working as they should. It just the green light is Illuminated on the switch if I turn it  to any position including Off.  When I turn the Ignition off the light goes out.

Any Ideas Folks. ?

Have you also pulled the knob out, inadvertantly, so that the fog lights are on?

I'd only  a recent 3 day experience of auto lights and they seemed to work as in your introduction. Some times even in dull daylight under trees. The satnav thinking 3pm qualifies as night time was irritating. I await the thoughts of others. I doubt that Rain X would have cause this apparent problem.

The switch is pushed in so its not the foglight. I've put on every scenario forth lights and everything works as it should.  Its just there green light on the switch which is always illuminated.

The Karoq had one green light illuminated when auto lighting was selected and two green lights when they were actually on. If that is any help. Don't have auto lighting on my Octavia. Can't advise further.

Do you have scandi Lights coded, the green light to right of the switch shows that the lights are on if scandi is coded whenever the DRL's are on the green light will be lit in auto. If you turn DRL's off the rear lights will also go off and so should the green light. I see from your signature that you have rear DRL's so I think this is the reason. Turn DRL's off in infotainment and the light will go off and work as you remember.

Sir, you are a genius.  just been out to the car and everything works as you have posted. Thank you for your post.  Do you know if this green light can work as it should and still have rear DRL's on or do I need to get the rear light re-coded to turn off the rear DRL's.

There are two ways to get the rear lights on as DRL.

The first way is to have the rear lights, dash lights and number plate lights all on with the front DRL. The second way is just to code each rear cluster to have the lights as DRL. That’s what I have. That way all I have are the two front DRL and two rear DRL. No dash lights etc.

As SC03OTT says above, you can code the resr lights only to come on only without the number plate lights and dashboard lights. from the VCDS post

If you just want rear lights only, it is possible to add additional functions to the rear lights.

set these 2 adaptations to a value of 'Tagfarlicht' or 'Daytime running light'

(9)-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Lichtfunktion D 23

(9)-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lichtfunktion D 24

There will not be any sidelights, dash illumination, number plate lights etc. illuminated if done this way.
