Paint protection.

Featured Replies

Morning guys ( and girls) - anyone use some form of paint protection on their motors, or just wash and polish? I have diamondbrite on my car, which I have had before.  It seems good, and I don't have to polish it, saving time.  Just thought I would ask your opinions. Thanks 🙂

Assume you mean wash and wax not wash and polish? I just put a coat of wax on every month or so. really enjoy doing it, otherwise I'd put something like diamondbrite on which can last over 12 months. I settled on Chemical guys butter wax, the shine is unbelievable. Every so often I'll use Autoglym SRP which is a paint cleanser as well as a mild sealant.

I used to like polishing my car too, but due to a recent health issue I have less time now, Mine now has a coat of of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and two layered coats of Gtechniq EXO V4. I had them proffessionally applied following a paint correction detail. To quote from my Detailers website  "crystal serum light forms the ultra-tough 9H ceramic base layer offering supreme wash-induced swirl resistance and chemical resistance and the top coat ‘EXO V4’ provides the highly water and dirt repellent function. This is a 3-layer ceramic coating also known as the CSL black treatment and if you're planning on keeping your vehicle for 5 years + I would always recommend going for this option". So this was what I went for. Makes the car self cleaning to an extent in heavy rain but easier to clean all round. I also had all the glass done with  G1 Clear Vision Smart Glass. Not cheap but for me it was worth it.

This very much depends on how far you want to take it.  I know many people who are more than happy with taking their car to a hand car wash, others that might show it a bucket and sponge occasionally, or like me go the full detail route.

I'm just finalising my list of products for when my new vRS Challenge arrives.  I've settled on Car Pro CQuartz UK 3.0, which is a ceramic coating, and will then be topped with CQuartz Gliss.  All the plastics, rubber and calipers will be coated with CQuartx D-Lux.  I've already got 3-4 days planned to carry out a full decontamination - 2 bucket wash, fallout remover, clay, single stage machine polish - ready for applying the coatings, then I'll turn my attention to the interior.

Washed mine today, then applied Diamondbrite conserved, brought it up quite nicely, and was simple.  But I take your points above, I may eventually convert to waxing.🙂
