May 16 1.4 tdi - still carry coolant issues?

Featured Replies

Morning all.

About to put a deposit down on a Monte Carlo estate on 54k miles.  It had a pump done in 2017 - I'm assuming that this year engine still had the issue with the coolant pump then?  :(

Have you read the pinned thread at the top of the page?

Do you especially need or want a diesel?

There were issues hence the Service Campaign to change the coolant, then some requiring replacement water pumps, then replacements needing replaced,

so it seems up to Skoda discontinuing the 1.4 TDI there were issues as you say that one has had the water pump changed.

Best have whoever is selling you the car put a 24 month warranty on it seeing as there are 'known issues'.

Hey mate.

Yes.  I've read the thread - I was wondering, like you, if the coolant pump had been replaced with a later engine if it had fixed the issue.  But reading the thread again, it looks like there have been multiple pump failures.  😞

I drive 16k a year and have always had a diesel.  I've had a 1.2 tsi which wasn't that economical to be fair.  1.0 tsi is awesome on fuel, but out of my price range.

I've got 24 months on it and Skoda assist also.   The pump was changed in April 2017 and has had 2 services since.  No other work done under warranty so it appears to have done around 37k unhindered miles to date since?  Seems like it could be a good thing?

Or ready to go soon.

At least you will have the Warranty and the 'known issue' that Skoda / VW know about so will have to deal with, and then you have consumer rights if something comes up sooner.
