Issues with fitting a used alarm siren.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Recently I noticed that my security alarm siren had reached its end of life, the battery was dead and PCB was not in a good condition as well. So, I purchased a used one which has a serial number 1K0 951 605C where as my existing siren serial number ends with 605D.

I attached the new siren to find out it's not working. I tested it via a multimeter by connecting to the 2 left pins and I am getting 6 volts reading on the siren after removing it, I am thinking the battery is ok.

Is it that this different model is incompatible with my car or I need any vcds settings to be modified.

I have also noticed a drop in my main battery charge after I fitted this unit. The unit is original and removed from a scrap car though I don't know which one

My car: Skoda superb mkll 1.8 TSI

Any thoughts any one, need help in solving the mystery. Thanks.

You now have two faulty alarm horns

they are plug and play

Only other issue could be a fault in the wiring

Hey Eddie,

Thanks for your reply. If I am getting 6volts on the alarm can it be faulty just out of curiosity? Is there any other way I can find if the horn is faulty? Can I test the wiring socket terminal for any voltage to check if I get the charging volts there?

Thanks
