Whining noise + oil analysis

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

So I just got the results of my oil analysis which I sent to blackstone labs.

The oil is Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30, running for about 2 months (2500 km) now.

Most things seem fine, however they did find high silicate which they say might be from an air intake leak.

I'm curious could that leak be the reason for the whining noise which I thought was coming from my turbo. The turbo is only 3 years old (a brand new one was installed after the old one blew up). The noise started to appear weeks after it was installed and it has gotten even louder by now. It's only there from about 1800 to 2800 rpm and the loudest when the engine is cold. I've had the turbo tested by a specialist who said everything is fine and that the noise isn't concerning. Now I'm thinking that a leak somewhere in the air intake could produce the sound and maybe pull some dirt with it and cause those high silicates in the oil.

Have any of you had a leak causing noise like this?

Molybden and boron are high cause I added Liqui Moly Ceratec. I don't know what's going on with the iron, that's also a bit concerning
