Taxi driver looking at Octavia 1.5 150bhp petrol manual and auto 2017 2018 please could you say really what your getting around town mpg as most work around town and don’t want diesel would you recommend hoping to get 39mpg low 40s hopefully is it nice drive comfortable thanks

all the taxi drivers round here are driving skodas (mostly 150 octys).... that all you need to know.

With a mixture of town and country driving, expect low 40's average mpg and with a bit of careful driving and the engine occasionally shutting down two cylinders up to 50's mpg is possible if and only if you can get a decent run without too many stops or gradients. If you are doing mainly town driving I think you would be hard pushed to get the fuel consumption that you are hoping for, which is why most taxi drivers have diesel engined cars to get decent fuel economy without having to try too hard. The car is comfortable enough and performance is decent too, if you are set on having a petrol engined car, the one litre petrol Octavia might well be a good option to consider, with similar power output to the 1.6 diesel engine version.
