Xenon Headlight Bulb replacement

Featured Replies

I’m thinking of replacing my headlight bulbs to the Night breaker Laser bulbs as the standard ones are disappointing.

how easy is it to do myself?

Sadly not easy as there is no room to fit ur hands and wiggle the lamp in or out.

How-to guide here.

It’s a complete PITA.  I swapped to Osram Cool Blue Intense and despite the significant improvement, I wouldn’t rush to do it again. When I swapped cars I asked the dealer to kindly swap the bulbs (and all-season tyres) as I didn’t want to waste the money or revert back to the stock ones. The service manager did remark that “someone won’t be happy, it’s a pig of a job” ...

Looking at my TSI compared to my TDI, there’s more room to manoeuvre hands/bulbs. I can’t recall which side it was but on a TDI one side is much easier to do.  Do that one first so you can at least get a feel for the process and it ‘should’ help you when the finger slashing and swearing begins 😊

In all seriousness, do be careful as there is a few sharp folds of metal

Is re-calibration required after changing the xenon bulbs and having smart/dynamic light assist?
