Squeaky dash😡

Featured Replies

Hi folks. I have a mk2 Octavia vrs and on the passenger side there is this annoying squeak noise I know this subject has been covered before but no definite answer? I thought at first it was the rubber on the passenger door rubbing against the side panel but I have put some Velcro on this and still the noise is there. Has anybody recently found a solution to this problem I would be grateful as it’s driving me nuts😡

Because figuring out what it is and fixing it is a matter of pot luck, even with access to the vehicle.

Yeah it’s a nightmare it’s been like it for a good few months now and narrowing it down is so difficult

I'm currently wrestling with the squeaky passenger side dash issue myself. It's been like it since I bought it 18 months ago!

So far I have:

Removed the end panel. Still does it.

Tightened/loosened the screws. No luck.

Put fibre washers between the dash pieces and screws - moderate success. Sometimes it's silent, sometimes it's not.

I think my next move is gonna be to insert some pieces of thin card between the dash pieces, as the washers may be a bit too small. Will see how that helps!

I can't comment specifically on this particular installation but some while back an auto-leccy friend of mine told me to use talc (talcum powder) to cure squeaky dashboards, and in my case it worked fine.

I put some Velcro ( furry side) along the lip of the end side panel which did help a bit along with some stuff to soften the rubber door seal, yesterday I changed my pollen filter and just happened to push the dash to see if there was any movement which there was around half a centimetre and now there is silence for now😀
