Manual AC automatic recirculation

Featured Replies

On the 2018 Fabia hatchback with manual AC, turning the temperature dial all the way down will turn on recirculation. I find that "feature" to be annoying.

Is there a way to disable this behaviour with e.g. VCDS?

If not, I am tempted to disconnect the switch that detects when the temperature dial is in the fully cold position. What's the least intrusive way of getting access to it?

Always better to give your air-con a work out as often as possible.

@sorenjorvang Welcome.

Which country are you in and what is the ambient / outside temp when this happens?

If this is happening Is the recirculation not just until the interior temperature can get down to the 'low' cooler temp requested from the not very efficient A/C set up?

Logically, it's the fastest way to cool the cabin. That is assuming it is warm or hot outside.

ie, it cools the air that is already cooler than the outside, and also not fighting with the heat from the engine.

@Skoffski beat me to it, Lol.

Agree with the guys. Do not disable this function. It uses more energy to draw air into the cabin from the outside and cool it than it does to cool the air already in the cabin.
