Continental PremiumContact 6 Rim Protection.

Featured Replies

Continental PremiumContact 6 225/45 R17 91Y      / Continental PremiumContact 6 225/45 R17 91Y  FR

I gather FR is Continental's code for rim protection, I see both the above advertised. Are there really 2 versions at this size and profile? -  with and without rim protection, or do some folk just not include the FR in the description.

As far as I can make out there is no rim protection (FR version) on higher profile PremiumContact6s but there tends to be on the lower profile ones.

Check MyTyres and Black Circles. They iirc say if there is rim protection.

FR = Felgenrippe in English this means "Rim Rib"

I am on nights and bored enough to find this stuff out!

When I was searching a few years ago, the rime protection type designation was not always specified. I'd to look at the descriptions on ,say, my tyres and black circles.

Well done. But sometimes the web site descriptions are useful. The tyre without the 'FR' listed may actually still  have the rim protection and be cheaper.
