Links in Email etc?

Featured Replies

Is it usual that full length links have a number of % digits in them.

I believe it can be a sign of a dodgy link but do legit links sometimes have some % in them. It's only 4 in this case.

I ask as I am having issues with sending applications on Indeed website and am communicating with someone (Heitor J / Indeed) [email protected]) through their website.

After a few emails back and forth he has said it "is a known issue for us, with only a workaround for now"..........................etc.

I have looked into virus checking the links but a little complicated for me at present.

Cheers

% is often part of ascii  codes used in web links. i.e. %20 is a space = https://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_urlencode.asp

& is often used where the weburl is being used to carry information between web pages and there is more than one item.

They might be getting shown in error, sometimes they are hidden and the information is carried in a cookie file (temp text file).

Zendesk is a popular helpdesk product.

Yes, the % is fine.  It will likely be a space or some other unsafe ASCII characters in the URL which has been converted into valid ASCII format.

A space is usually replaced with '+' or '%20', for example.

@Aspman I looked into zendesk and assumed likely that Indeed would use it. Do you agree?

I think it is all genuine tho google search does not bring up anyone else mentioning job application issues or possibly log in issues.

Some pages showing i'm not logged in, when i should be.

I have successfully changed my password just yesterday, just in case.

Concern is the possibility of a spoof site?????????? Is this even possible, or likely?????????

Yes it's likely that indeed could be using Zendesk.

Is it a spoof site, probably not.

Are you connecting using https (little padlock at the left of the url), click on the padlock. Look at the details. Does the certificate match the name of the site (try it on Brisky for a comparison).

TBH if I was trying to scam documents I'd just email you, I wouldn't set up a whole website.

But if you're paranoid don't send anything. If I'm wrong you've no come back on me. Teflon shoulders I've got.

I'm not paranoid, no..........just sensibly cautious........I think all is good???

It's just weird that on one indeed page it shows i am logged in then on another page it seems i'm not logged in. They are working on it, apparently.

Just would have thought the issue would have been mentioned online by others.........

Clicking on padlock brings up same thing ie connection is secure, certificate (valid) cookies and site settings. (CHROME)

Clicking on 'certificate' both indeed pages are *.indeed.com (logged in / not logged in)

Brisky is cloudfaressi.com (i assume this is fine.?)

Thanks for your advice guys.

@Aspman Sorry to bother you

Any reason why the guy from Indeed would recommend me (as a possible solution to the indeed issue) to use incognito / private mode of my browser.

Do you know why that would make a difference?

Cheers

Incognito will ignore any current cookies/sessions you have active on your browser. As a cache/cookie troubleshooting measure I use it all the time with my colleagues.

Also great if you need to log into a site with two different accounts as they're essentially treated as two different browser instances (though the Incognito tab will obviously not save anything during your session). Saves me opening a new browser when I want to check email on two Office365 accounts.

^ wot he said.
