Featured Replies

Hi guys, im starting my project on my mk1 VRS. She's driven to Spain and never let me down so I'm giving the old girl some upgrades cos I love her lol

My first job is sorting the wishbones, hubs etc.. Id like to know if ive missed anything or anything I could also do at this stage. I will be progressing with suspension/springs etc once this part has been completed.

So if ive missed anything off the list please advice.

Why?

Going from this forum its something to do with the abs sensors I think. The standard MK1 has ASR and it works fine. But models with ESP have issues.

I’ve not tried it personally but ESP has nothing to do with the steering rack. Also the LCR, Audi TT and S3 (that I believe the quick racks are usually sourced from) have ESP.

Curious as to why why you can’t install and then calibrate the steering angle sensor as normal.

Im not technical. But have spent hours scouring this site for info. And if you look at any thread regarding quick racks, they cant be used with cars with ESP. Have a quick search and youll find out why. But def to do with abs sensors.

yes, no quick rack with ESP ... probably something to do with steering angle sensor and the ECU having calibration for for a rack with more turns lock to lock... would really mess up the ECUs calculations... edit: just read teccies post... no idea if you can recalibrate steering angle sensor... but surely the ECU would have to do different maths to make ESP work if the rack has a different ratio.... so would need a program change in the ECU ?
