Towbar & Reversing Camera - Dealer fit

Featured Replies

I’ve ordered a new pre built 2.0TDI 150 DSG 5 door SE and having dealer fit both towbar & reversing camera. I feel reasonably confident the technician knows what he’s doing but can anyone confirm what I should see on the infotainment system when installed and programmed?

By default I’m assuming the following:

  • Reversing sensors disable when towing.
  • infotainment system will show trailer is connected.
  • Alarm triggers when car is locked / alarmed and trailer is disconnected, this is how Ford works.
  • Reversing camera, should see standard image with guidelines.

will there be any images on the infotainment system showing trailer info, if so what should I see. Need to remember that the SE infotainment system does not have any SAT NAV feature, just basic functionality.

Thanks

I think you should ask the dealer that question directly. There's been more than one post here about the dealer fit cameras not showing the guidelines.

There's lost of people here who tow/fitted towbars and there have been a few threads on it and non factory installs. Just do a forum search for "towbar" and you'll get results.

The factory fit towbar means:

additional indicator signal flashes on dashboard in sync with main indicator light.

Trailer icon appears on screen when you engage reverse gear and sensors are disabled.

Camera view offers different modes - wide angle view should show the tow hitch to help you reverse onto the trailer.

Disconnecting the trailer when the car is locked triggers the alarm and notifies your phone (if Skoda Connect is configured)
