Part number help required

It’s in the thread.

Mike had moved over to the Coventry branch of Listers now so it will probably be Andrew or Ross that pick up any requests. Mike is still involved though.

So I've phoned up and ordered the part, which the chap mentioned was revised in April of this year and now has part number 04B 121 011 G.

The price including delivery is £126.42, he said for some reason the revised part is more expensive than the outgoing part. As long as its the correct part I am happy with the price knowing it's genuine.

Ah well that explains why it was Andrew and not Mike that answered my last email! Same service same prices, I've been using Mike as a source of VW Group parts since before these clowns at Audi-Sport.net replaced him with a very greedy other main dealer's parts man, so a few vindictive forum members including me, butt in when folk ask where to buy Audi parts and the forum staff always point people to this newer source - just us having a laugh and trying to move new people on to Mike etc!

My only slight concern is the discrepancy between quote given to tech1e one day and me the next, but the revision to the part makes that quite possible.

Anyway, for future reference for others, the mk3 1.4tdi water pump part number is 04B 121 011 G.

The order process was very easy. The part however is not held anywhere in UK at moment so I will have a delay waiting on part arriving, but at least progress now made.

Just did. Exchange part no longer available, £88.49 inc VAT for a brand new genuine pump

Having just come off phone, it wasn't Mike but one of the other lads, apparently the part number ending in D is now revised and ends with G, and is more expensive than the quote you were given, £38 more. The lad was quite shocked at the increase himself.

I've ordered it anyway along with G13 coolant, which was £9.42 for 1.5 litre bottle. I apologise for not getting part number for the G13.

Don't know off the top of my head but i'd say 4 litres total. But you wont drain the whole system when doing a water pump so 3 litres max I would think.

So 1.5 litres of G13 concentrate should be fine, out of habit though I always check and record after anyhow.

Cheers.

So me buying 2 x 1.5l bottles of G13 means the mix will be too strong? Our mechanic chap won't be able to carry out work until returning from holiday next week and without being able to ask I opted for the better safe than sorry and ordered 2.

@Sittingbull

Has the Wee Green one ever needed a fluid top up since the new engine went in?

& has it needed a water pump yet or has it been hokey dokey?

I don't want to tempt fate but it's never needed a coolant top up, but the water pump is on the radar to get changed due to age and mileage of vehicle, now 7 years old and touched 77,000 miles this week,

As long as coolant never moving hopefully not an issue, and the wiring / connections not too corroded.

I looked under one just a bit older than yours yesterday afternoon and it was a mess.
