MIB question

Featured Replies

Hello to everyone,

I want to know what MIB is my infotainment system. Is here has a member who could help me and give me properly information?

Thanks in advance!

It’s in the settings under system information. There will be a model number, post it here and someone can let you know :)

If your car was built before week 22 (end of May) 2015, then you have* an MIB1 unit and will have a CD drive in the glovebox along with the SD card slots.

If your car was built after that, you have* MIB2 unit, and will have no CD drive in the glovebox, just a blanking plate and the SD card slots.

To be certain, post the model number as SashaGrace suggests.

(* unless a previous owner has changed things...)

My car is November 2017, ordered in July 2017, and has a Columbus with 2 SD card slots and a CD player in the glove box.

CD player in the glovebox is the main unit.  The screen is just that... a screen.

5q0035864b (and a 2017 car) means it is definitely a MIB 2 system.

The Amundsen units of this age certainly had deleted the CD player.  I'd forgotten that the (rarer) Columbus units had retained it.  Sorry if that caused any confusion!

Many thanks for the information!

Now I’m ready to ask my next question when I know this essential information.

Is it possible to make retrofit change whit replacement of the screens. I want to put screen which is all touch ( buttons and etc. ) ?

For example like this in FL Octavi versions.

Thanks in advance for the further information!

You can indeed retrofit the glass 8 inch screen on this radio with no coding changes. Part number you need is 5E0919605M.

Thanks for the info. I will need only display, right ?

Do you have an idea where I could find the “ glass “ with this part number ?

I found some variants in EBay. Is it only “ plug and play “ or I will have to make some modifications or settings?

Thanks in advance!

It’s fully plug and play, you might need to shave down a plastic connection but that’s all. I use eBay for bits like that. Make sure you get one with the bottom trim. That’s not a separate part you can buy.

Bottom trim you mean the frame?
And which is the plastic connection for removing?

See below, the trim is missing on this one

this is how it should be

There are 2 connections on the back, one connection on the car may need a locator tab shaving off with a craft knife to fit properly, very easy to do and will be obvious when the screen arrives.

Hello @SashaGrace!

When you have free time could you spend 2 minutes to see this COLUMBUS and tell me is it compatible with my system. Thanks in advance!

Best wishes!

It is compatible, it’s an FL Amundsen display, it’s not a Columbus one. Plug and play with just one plug locator to shave down.

@SashaGrace, hi! Do you have idea is it possible to fit up my car with VC, and is it expensive?

It’s possible but you’ll need a new radio and a vc to make it work, it’s not easy, lots of ODIS-E coding. You will need a MIB2 Columbus with MOST plug or a MIB2.5 with MOST plug to run the VC.

Ok I see @SashaGrace! And what do you think about the change with FL clima panel ( piano black variant )

Edited by Skodafabian

That’s easy enough, get a panel, a surround and a bit of coding to make sure the panel is matched to the car correctly and it’s all good.

Where I can find a panel and what type of coding is necessary?

I bought mine on eBay, it’s just basic coding to reset the adaptations on the panel to match the car. The amount of coding you will need to do will depend what car the panel comes from.
