Treble on Stereo

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently purchased a 2016 Fabia and I’m quite happy with my choice, however I’m finding the stereo a bit of a chore to use.

I have tinnitus and I prefer the treble turned down quite far- my previous car was fine for this.

In the fabia, even with the treble all the way down, I’m finding the sound really quite shrill. Turning down the Mid doesn’t help either. It’s as if there is a band between these two settings that isn’t being adjusted.

Tinnitus aside, it means the sound is really sharp. Am I missing anything?

You should be able to find exactly the right sound you are looking for. I'm wondering if you need to shunt more sound to the rear speakers. What system does your car have?  What exact model Fabia do you have, 'S', 'SE' 'SEL'?

It’s an SE I believe. I’ve moved the sound about with the fader but it doesn’t really help as it just makes the rear speakers louder, and when driving I can’t really hear them anyway- and they rattle from the bass.

That's a strange one. The sound systems in all of them are really good and sound great. Is it with just the radio or with sound played from your phone or USB stick? I've not heard anyone describe them as giving out a really shrill sound with the treble turned right down. Sounds like something may not be right with the software. Sorry not sure I can help with this one. Might be a good idea to seek dealer advice.

Oh...and welcome to the site ASBR.

It does sound really good turned up - there’s a good bass level, it’s something I want in my cars!

In my old car I could turn the treble down - analog dial- and all the ‘brightness’ of the sound would go. It would just sound muddy.

Here, there always some level of treble. As I say, it’s as if certain frequencies escape adjustment 😓
