Just watch the instructions as there is a mistake in them so read carefully.

LOL....they messed them up to.....pffft!!!....

thanks for the heads up

Have you fitted one of the 2010> Fabia II kits before?

not on a Fabia 2, done cruise on many other vehicles including my old Mk1 vRS fabia, though.......should be fairly straight forward as long as I spot the mistake you have mentioned.

It's a world apart from a MK1 Fabia.

The tricky bit is wiring into the BCM, watch the four wires that go into the BCM plug as they don't run in numerical order.

Yes aware the Fabia 1 is a simple job, took no time to do that to be honest, remember doing a Vauxhall carlton CDXi (showing my age) which was my first one, that was fun, no such thing as "kits" in those days, had to carefully remove from a scrap car what you needed and carefully implant into the new vehicle, but all interesting stuff !!....

I always check and double check pin numbers before commiting any terminals, (measure twice cut once so they say) ...thanks for the info.

No worries.

I used to make all the kits up myself.

Be interesting to see if you need the new BCM and how you get on coding it all up.

Cannot answer the BCM question as I don't know, seems to be "limited" info out there, bit of a "closed" shop which I find strange as it's quite a "popular" mod.

Not even a set of instructions on the net (yet) for fabia 2 to have a pre-read, odd really in this day and age, especially with all the forums around.

There are three different types for Fabia 2.

Up to 2010 has a system the same as the MK4 Ibiza, a combined stalk but still running the same central electrics ECU as the MK1 Fabia.

2010> 2012 BW ?? Full kit with new blank BCM and combined stalk

2012 BW??> as above but with later stalk (different connection to contact ring)

Be careful when drilling through the bulkhead too, my advice is use a 9 mm drill bit not a 10 mm as you want the grommet to be tight or it's gonna **** water in.

Thats a big hole for little wires !!....

The hole is for the grommet not the wiring loom.

Tech1e really knows his stuff and fitted cruise to my 2012 Roomster MKII back in 2013 - I don't think you'd want to attempt this unless you had a good unsderstanding of the BCM and relevant coding and access to equipment to do this. At the time the information from Skoda was pretty useless regarding the instructions and even getting hold of the correct kit in the first place. A lot of Skoda dealerships couldn't or wouldn't fit cruise to a 2010> Roomster or Fabia.

I have no doubt Tech1e knows his stuff, not in question at all.

Have also had experience of dealers who won't fit stuff or say its not possible over the years on various makes of vehicle, then it becomes a challenge 😉 .....from my experience, dealers often like to refuse complex jobs and add a bit of scare mongering to, thats why its invaluable if you find a good dealer / parts guy and strike up a good relationship.

It's all a learning curve, If I did not have VCDS I would not be attempting it as I could only do the physical bit and then have to find someone to code it, so they might as well do the lot.

Offcourse I would not do this with no knowledge, so yes your right it's not a simple DIY task and fully understand people pay guys like Tech1e to do it for them, but thats not me.

If you need any help when you come to do it just shout.

Anyone on here knows I don't keep things to myself, always happy to help.

Just make sure you have got some of the security bolts for the engine ECU cage as they don't come in the kit. Getting the old ones out can be fun.

Thanks for the offer, appreciated.

REF security bolts, good tip thx.

Ahh I see they are shear bolts..............what a great idea!!................not......absolutely no need for them there......

Well, yesterday was a nice day so I decided it was install cruise control day....

Boy it was hot !! so really bright sun and dripping sweat in ya eyes trying to read small pin number assignments was a challenge lol....

What can I say, well yes there is a good amount of work involved thats for sure, the Skoda instructions could be a LOT better in my opinion, it makes sense once you have done it but as mentioned a couple of mistakes in there, well I found 2, the big one being they point you to the wrong connector on the Engine ECU...helpful especially when you strip it to fit the wiring and find the pin they say to connect to has already got a wire in it!!

I do think once you have done one, it would get quicker each time as you know whats going where etc, like anything really.

The kit comes with a new BCM, so I suppose they are covering ALL models in case you need it, my vehicle had the correct one in, so was simply editing the coding for that and the engine ECU to tell it cruise is installed.

Some of the connectors SKoda / VAG use, well there is no uniformity thats for sure !!

Security bolts on ECU, well I forget to order those when I ordered the kit  :@   but my Irwin bolt removal sockets soon sorted those :muscle:, and once removed just ground a slot in the head to enable re-fitting with a flat bladed screw driver, will replace them at a later date.............maybe.....:nerd:

Very satisfying when you go for a spin, hit the button and the new symbol appears on the dash and your foot comes of the pedal......

Now for the next mod..........................dunno what yet though :notme:
