This sounds like the overall.nds file problem

Before you downloaded the new maps, did you save a copy of the sd card onto a folder on a computer as a back up

Once you have copied over the newly downloaded maps, copy this original.nds (and overwrite) file back onto the SD card.  It seems to have some security codes that are stored and are needed to allow activation.

I think your maps are on the SD card, it won't update via USB.

You need to connect the SD card to the computer and unzip the files to that.

There are a few guides kicking around with some more step by step details.

The video I seen done it through a USB stick so just thought it was USB stick and the car would do the rest but al try copying that file over and see if it works that way if not al just take the sd out and dump everything on to it and try again:-)

The upgraded columbus units work like that because they have an internal hard drive for the maps, the other units just read the maps from the SD card so you need to put the updated files directly on it.

It has to be the Skoda one, so make sure you take a backup before doing anything to it.

You leave the SD card plugged in the car and that's where it permanently reads the maps from. It doesn't copy them into the car in any fashion.
