ABS activates at parking speeds

Featured Replies

Im hoping this is a simple fix for a totally unexpected new problem, Gentle braking at very slow speeds (under 5mph) causes the ABS to activate about 3 times out of 4.

There are no warning lights or diagnostic codes showing and braking at any other speed works normally where it takes a severe push to activate the ABS.

Both front corners have been recently rebuilt (Hub carriers, Bearings, Hubs & ABS rings, ABS sensors, Discs & Pads).

Both front Calipers were replaced last year.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to my thought that it may be a defective (new) ABS sensor?

Check your abs rings have not become obscured with dirt or grease, and also check that the ring itself has not started to come loose on its fixing screws.

You should be able to read real time data rather than just an error code from your sensors in VCDS to confirm if you have a dodgy unit.
