There were a batch of DQ200 gearboxes on 1.2tsi that were filled with a mineral oil that became conductive and caused problems, usually jerky gearchanges.

From memory the problems were around 2011-2013 builds

These should have been fixed by a service campaign, but inevitably some didn't get done.

Doesn't really seem to have been general problems since 2014 with this box,

The fluid on these is officially sealed for life, but some suggest getting it changed on high mileage or after about 8 years (quite a variation of opinion on this)

We have a 2012 1.2tsi DSG and it needing gearbox fixing (done under warranty at about 2.5 years, but was one with wrong oil), nothing gone wrong since (except fan resistor)

Also had a 2014 Fabia 1.2tsi DSG for 2 years, from 11k to 31k miles, never had any faults (except a puncture due to screw in tyre)

Interesting @surreyjohn as ours is the 2012 (2013 mod) 1.2 with DSG-7. Any specific info to go by?
However, I know this car got a gearbox swapped at some point of 1st owner.

@WAUOla

What it is,

2009-2012 there were DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch with Synthetic oil from the factory.  These were in 1.2, 1.4 & 18 TSI's and 1.6TDI's.

in 2012 VW had to do a World Wide Recall, but this did not include Europe.

They changed the Synthetic Oil for Mineral Oil did a Software Update, in some countries like New Zealand they all got a New Mechatronic Control Unit.

In some countries and extended warranty.

In 2013/14 they started a Service Campaign and Skoda did this from May 2014  in the UK.   '34F7'.

Then after the DQ200's from late 2012/13 left the factories with Mineral oil ther was further issues, With Heat and Pressure issue. Cracked cashing and ECU leaks..

A Service campaign was started in late 2017 on some DQ200, a software update.  '34H5'.

This is on DQ200's from 2013-2015.  Not all though.

Some required new DSG's as there were leaks.

There is a period late 2012 where there are DQ200's that never got 34F7  or 34H5 because VW / Skoda / Audi /SEAT say not required.

Plenty of these failing now.  'Flashing White Spanner' is what tells you these are these late 2012 DQ200's.  Different from the usual Warning.

**** There are generally and commonly problems since 2014,

see the Fabia Mk3 'Famous DQ200 Clutch Slip' thread, as there are TPI's for the Software Updates and Clutch Updates and that is right up to 2017/18.

Do not believe all Dealership Staff that have never heard of issues, maybe their hearing aid batteries are needing changed.****

Issues might be few, bit they are across the 4 brands and across the world. So a few thousands.
