MY fabia Mk1 diesel estate

Featured Replies

I’ve got to remark how comfy and reliable my Mk1 fabia estate has been since I bought it. 10,000 miles covered in 5months of ownership. Admittedly it is due some care and attention. Needs a good clean and the alignment sorted. It also did need some serious attention on the sills a few weeks ago. I have been looking to upgrade it but I ask myself where am I going to find a car that is as economical , uncomplicated and cheap to run as my little workhorse. These cars don’t get enough appreciation and with the end of diesel in sight IMO I might as well enjoy this car until it dies as I don’t think I will be able to enjoy such reliable and care free motoring at this price again.

Just to add I paid £700 for mine which had 129k on the clock when I bought it.

They are not a bad little motor

I've always been a fan of Skodas - even had several of the old rear-engined ones which I loved despite what the idiots used to say about them. VW thought that the original Skoda engine was good enough to carry over (with a few mods) to the Fabia for a few years. It's funny to think that I'm driving a Fabia which basically has a Skoda Estelle engine but it's torquey and reliable which is all I need.

Have to agree my tdi estate is a cracking car not too big not too small and without evening trying it does 50mpg but mine too is due some attention got a small pile of parts ready to treat it too. ( just to add mines a 06 1.9tdi elegance cost me £1200)
