Monte Carlo Tyre Question...

Featured Replies

My last car (Suzuki Swift Sport) ran a 45 profile tyre and I wondered if anybody on here running a lower profile on their Monte ? had mine a few weeks now and still find the body roll too much (considering the lowered suspension) on the 55 profile, any one on a 45 profile, if so any issues ?

Thanks.

Body roll gives more grip. 🤔

So I wonder how much roll is acceptable? I guess it doesn't roll over.

How will a lower profile tyre improve body roll?

It won't, at least not significantly.

It was a rhetorical question. I'm in a snarky mood today, sorry folks!

That's cool; it wanted saying and you gave me someplace to say it.

As little as is practical for everyday :)

On its own not much but it would help surely, I know stiffer springs would help too, possibly guilty of thinking out loud :)

Practical for every day is a lot. As long as you don't get sick. I mean it really.

Stiffer anti roll bar is what you want if you really think it rolls too much on corners. I don't know if there is any available. VW usually is on stiffer side when it comes to driveable.

Driving my wifes normal Citigo compared to her previous Fabia and indeed my Yeti  is like driving a go kart with little or no suspension travel or roll. I can't imagine why anyone would want to stiffen it up further and ruin the ride quality, which is already on the stiff and firm side of comfort.

It may give a few more % in maximum handling capability, but should it be used like that on the road? And then for 99.9% of the time you have a less comfortable ride. Probably more effective than stiffening is to lower the car, but then you won't get over the speed bumps or through all the potholes!

Roll should be minimal and plenty of grip for enthusiastic driving. Just put some decent tyres on it.
