a used part

More or less by definition, a "used particulate filter" contains some particles.

Yes but not full of “particles” like what’s currently on car 😜

Are you totally sure of the diagnosis? Many DPF problems are caused by faulty pressure sensors.

VAG replacement DPF prices are ridiculous. I have been advised not to go for a non original replacement as they are more trouble than they’re worth.

There is a forum member that works at a Skoda dealer who may get you some discount otherwise would suggest getting the part number and doing an extensive search on the internet.

There is another option but that depends on your conscience and knowing a friendly MOT garage.

A used DPF is always going to be a bit of a lottery. Even if it's from a low mileage car, there is no guarantee it'll actually have a low oil ash or soot content...

I've certainly heard bad things about some aftermarket DPF's so I'd agree about the advice about avoiding them.

I think the part number for a remanufactured one is 1K0254703PX, might be worth checking how much Skoda would charge for one?

There are some on eBay such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162751550680 at around £350. Just remember there is a ~€300 surcharge until the old one is returned.
