Octavia VRS Estate

Featured Replies

Well back on the forum, last time I logged in was around 2008!

Back then I owned a Fabia VRS, was a great car, managed to put over 120k of pretty much trouble free miles!

Fast forward 11 years and two children, I’m thinking of changing my trusted Mazda 6 for a Octavia VRS estate. Looking for a 2016/2017 model.

I just have a few questions, I have the Skyactiv auto at the moment in the Mazda and it’s a pretty nice auto box,  I’m hoping the DSG will be pretty much the same.

What’s it like in the back for the 10 and 7 year old, as I know it’s a size down from current Mazda?

We do a lot of camping, cycling so I’m hoping the estate boot will be easier to load then the Mazda saloon/ roof box.

I travel around 18 -20k a year but I’ve got a hankering for the TSI petrol, is there anything I need to look out for with these engines.

Many thanks

Lee

Based on MQB platform so plenty of room in the back, more so than the hatch.

Boot is huge without the false floor, with the false floor still big!

TSI engines are bullet proof and can be mapped with zero mods to 310-330 bhp with total reliability.

Welcome back!

I think the only thing to do is take the family along for a test drive :D

I also wouldn't rule out the Superb estate, if you crave more space. I can see me having the 280 version at some point....

95 Octane is fine unless you remap then you need to go higher to stop any possible pinking.

The estate has a 610 litre boot and there is 2 inches extra legroom in the back compared to the current Golf due to a much longer wheelbase. Space is not going to be an issue.

I'm aware of how much room there is thanks! :)

Superb, in my opinion, is still worthy of consideration. You may not agree, but there we go.

I really do like the Superb as that's roughly the same size as my Mazda, Shame the sporty Superb carries a much higher price, would need to sell a child/kidney to afford one 😁

That's the issue with the Superb Sportline for me too you get much more for your budget with the Vrs. Paid £28,100 for my highly specified 245 nearly 2 years ago which would have got me the 148bhp 1.4TSi Superb Sportline alternative.

New Octavia VRS is around 23k from sites like drive the deal. It's a great bargain although on condition on taking out PCP. There are ways around it though if you don't want a PCP

I test drove the new Mazda 6 tourer, Octavia vRS Estate and Superb Estate Sportline before buying a SEAT Tarraco

The Mazda is nowhere near the size of the Superb (internally)

Compared to the Octavia Estate you will have less rear legroom and a smaller boot, so the Octavia is definitely bigger than the Mazda 6 Estate (internally).

However I felt the (new) Mazda 6 is more refined than the Octavia, in both ride comfort (even on the 19 inch rims) and road noise.

Always Always take the PCP to get the discount. Then pay it off. Simples.
