Ok so downloaded the software and ok I suppose but then noticed it uses myphones data allowance which I wasn’t aware of. Is there a way of making it work via Bluetooth eg or if I plug it  into the  USB port on the top of the dash where the phone cradle usually sits, and on that point is voice controlled dialling available cos I can’t find it if it is!

Mine doesn't use any phone data. It's connected via Bluetooth and I always connect it via the USB port as it charges the phone, the satnav really drains the battery otherwise.

Voice control for dialling used to work via Google Assistant but a Google update a few months back put pay to that (there are many threads about the Google update on their forums!).
