Ac compressor

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my week old yeti has been making a grating noise, mostly in warm weather. On looking through posts on here i think its the ac compressor. Ive got my car booked in for a diagnostic test to confirm. My query is, if its cold when i take it in and it doesnt grate, will they be able to diagnose a faulty compressor easily enough? Would they have to strip parts to get to it, or can they diagnose it in position?

Many thanks,

Paul.

If they can't reproduce the fault then there is nothing to diagnose unless the AC isn't working.

Ive read the grating is caused by a screw holding the clutch plate/swash plate in place working loose and causing the thread to splay. Would they be able to easily assess this without stripping it out?

There is a post here recently about replacing the clutch and pulley, under £100 for parts

guys...our yeti DONT have clutch on compresor..clutch is old system..we have some kind of shock absorber..remember old car when compresor engage fell like somebody brake in back of car...yetis dont do that..we have modern compresors...and they fail often..simply they alway work..if you press but for AC of..compresor still work..with only 10% but it work...that is reason why they fail so often..

when youre compresor fail PLEASE dont try to repair it..you will make only more damage, discard it..buy new one..also buy dryer and condenser..because this two parts are contaminated with crap from old compresor..IF you try repair old compresor with new "clutch" plate then you yust spread all crap to AC system..this plate is some kind of mechanical fuse..

Yeti's with air-con have a clutch, climate control compressor does not.
It's the drive to the compressor that is failing so there is no chance of "crap" getting into the system.

Ya ya ya and we all will fly to the moon next year...

and you know this ?  you actualy see how much compresor in youre life ?

man I run my own busines since 1994..with car equipment,AC,electronic,,

search for word CLUTCHLESS ac compresor...yep its on yeti too..like golf 5,6,7 passat..

its not drive ..its mechanical FUSE..need to BROKE conection from compresor internal to puley...CRAP is inside compresor, diluted in compresor OIL..and that will contaminate all..fuse broken means compresor is way too hard to rotate because all that crap INSIDE..you put NEW fuse ..bravooo..more contamination to pipes to evaporator core...and one day change compresor will not be enought..you will need to exchange ALL  to repair youre AC pipes, evaporator, condenser
