Skoda Roomster jacking points

Featured Replies

Hello, I would like to know where the jacking points are on my Roomster. The manual (page 171) claims that there are engravings to show them, but I cannot find anything on the cill like an engraving to indicate the position.

Please let me know how to find these, other than by guessing from the pic in the manual, which seems very unsafe to me!

Many thanks,

Mark Findlay

On the sill will do just fine. If you look towards the end there is a thicker part. A rubber or wooden block will help spread the load if your trolley Jack has a small pad.

Thanks. Still not sure where the thicker bit is - how far in should you place the jack? I'm concerned about having the change the wheel roadside and not knowing how to do it safely!

If you are using the widow maker jack from the tool kit then it fits over the lip on the sill.

Thanks for the pic. That is helpful, although I couldn't find the indentation shown I think I found that oval thingummy!

I kind of like the post describing the supplied jack as a "widowmaker" - they are inadequate, but let's face it most of us don't have a trolley jack at all, let alone fitting one into the boot for use on the road! The manufacturer ones should be better.

Post a pic of your sill

Front. There is a very faint dimple that you can just about see!

Rear. Can't see much at all!

Yep, that lip will do, couple of inches from the edge.

I had a second pic of the rear, but it wouldn't let me post as it went over 10mb! Thanks for the hints guys!

I cannot locate the marks either. The seam should not take the weight of the car as the seam bends over, splits the paint and rust starts. Previous tyre fitters on my earlier cars have used trolley jacks on the seams and have done just that. My local tyre fitter uses rubber bunges on the trolley jacks to avoid metal to metal contact and from what I can see lifts the car further in from the seams

The widow maker is designed to work on the seam, that’s the point.

The issue comes if someone jacks the car up to far in and it will bend then.
