Scala v Karoq

Featured Replies

Just priced up a Scala SEL and added most of the kit we have on our Karoq..........quite a shock, a new Karoq is far better value.

@Berisford

Do you actually mean cheaper?

What engines are you comparing?

It was a casual 'build your own' skip through the options.

Based on what I paid in March for our 1.0SEL DSG Karoq (around £22500) I simply added on the options I have on the Karoq together with toys that are standard on our motor and I was well ahead of £22500.

I appreciate that the Scala is new and discounts are not available but........I suspect Skoda is having a laugh?

So I'd say either the Scala is overpriced or the Karoq is cracking value, either way, I don't think we'll be adding a Scala anytime soon.

Maybe do it by order book price (RRP) in August for a factory build and then compare.

Apples for Apples.

RRP prices, fair enough, there is a difference....but you have to add another £2k to the Scala for kit that's missing on the SEL and whilst the Karoq RRP is higher it's real world / in the showroom haggling prices that matter to me............

For those that will be Leasing / Renting the cars it will be about the deposit and monthlies.

If you are buying a car then haggle to your hearts content.

Skoda are no longer the cheap option but there will be plenty Scala Taxi / Uber around and Skoda UK will be doing deals with Lease Companies to get them out on the roads and First Registrations in the UK.

Nice that Broadspeed are offering to source 1.5 petrol Scalas when Skoda UK don't even have them on the configurator.

SEAT Ibiza buyers went through this last year- trying to order cars that were never going to be available with that engine.

Our 1.5TSi manual SEL Karoq may be heading back to Skoda in just over a week as I am off to check out a possible replacement for Skippy tomorrow.:)

This is in another thread in this section.

Shy-will this be a replacement or rejection?

What are you looking at as a replacement?

Not the first time something like this has happened

I think when the Superb 3 came out, the SEL 220 was cheaper than an Octavia VRs with options added to match the Superb's spec

There was another time where the PCP deposit contribution on a model was bigger, and it meant the net price after contribution was less for similar spec bigger car

Too late to reject after 18 months but not happy to be waiting this long for the Q2 fix so may swap to a higher spec Karoq Scout. Nearly bought an Edition model at launch but the Scout model now has the things that I would like above our current SEL and savings outweigh the depreciation at the moment. The replacement will be diesel as there appear to be no reported issues with them.

Until Wednesday 7th August upto £3,950 off certain new Karoq models ordered and registered before 31/12/2019.:thinking:We only got £1,250 back in Jan 2018.

  • 6 months later...

The comparison should not be made to Karock , the SUV-mate for Scala is Kamiq .
