Driving speed gone

Featured Replies

Having a few problems with the instrument cluster, booked in on Thursday as the scroll wheel stopped working for a few days but today started working again.

All was fine for a whole ten minutes when the driving speed disappeared and was replaced by a road sign and nothing will get rid of it under driving data. Tried deselecting show road signs in instrument cluster, makes no difference. Any ideas?

Just seems a weird thing to happen.

First photo is when initially turning ignition on, second after moving off then stopping.

Working fine again now. Not sure whether to still take it in or not as it's being a bit temperamental.

The system uses both camera and the built-in SatNav.

When you get in the car after it's been parked up there is probably no speed limit sign within view of the camera so it checks the SatNav for the speed limit of the road.

Not all roads have the speed limit data available and if you're starting off in one of those roads you will get the "No Road Signs Available" message until either you enter a road for which the SatNav has the speed limit data or the camera picks up a sign.

It shouldn't cause any problem with scrolling to other settings so you may have a temperamental scroll wheel - a problem that others have mentioned elsewhere.

Maybe it needed a re-boot  -  you have seen "if Microsoft made cars" haven't you.

A couple of weeks ago I got into my car and the entire central bit was dark. No display at all no matter how I fiddled about with the controls. I’d been going a minute or two before I realised, so I completed my journey. Next time I used the car, later the same day, it was all fine again. It had never played up before or since.

I've experienced my  Matrix display going a bit dodgy , this was on my old MK2

This was within 2 days of me purchasing it , progressively over the next 3 days it got worst and also sorts of weird and wonderful things would happen ..

The the car started to die when moving and needed a good twist of the steering wheel to get it going again

Root cause the BCU had failed and it cost the garage who warranted the car for 12 months £700 to fix l.

Why it happened well the battery had gone flat and they used a powet d jump starter a few too many times to get some life in it and fried the electrics along the way

Let's hope this minor niggle doesn't start growing legs

Have you tried a full factory reset of everything ?....

Thanks

No I haven't done a reset. Wheel wasn't working again yesterday, had to reschedule for this week but will take it in later in the month. Will ask them to do a software update while they're at it, if that's not something they'd automatically do.
