  1. It's been a while since I had my Mk 3 and moved to a Merc E class. I am now looking to move back to a Superb. Should never have switched in the first place 😕 Mine his P zeros on and I switched them for Uniroyal Rain Sport 3s ( as they were at the time , they since by superseded by the 5s) but they was noticeably quieter and had a more comfy ride. My wife just replaced her tires on her VW for Hankook Ventus tyres and they are extremely quiet compared to the Bridgestone's that were on it before Not sure if that helps or not
  2. Hello all, after scouring the VW forums I thought I'd post on here in an attempt to help my partner out She has a 66 plate Tiguan 150bhp SE-L. Completely out of the blue on Christmas Eve when traveling to my parents the following faults appeared Lane Keep Assist Unavailable ACC Unavailable Front Cornering Fog Lights Unavailable Front Colillison Warning Unavailable Traffic Sign Recognitions Unavailable She pulled over at the service station after speaking to me and cleaned the ACC sensor (VW badge) and the front parking sensors on the front and rear and the underside of the wing mirrors and the sensor array being the rear view mirror. No luck..... We then set about turning everything off and turning them back on one by one until the fault presented itself....made no differencee the faults kept appearing. Interesting that the one function you could Renable was the lane Keep Assist , just says "Function Unavailable" We then noticed after turning off and back on the car that the fault occurs after you go over 35mph. If you set the ACC when at standstill and allow it move the car forward all systems "appear" to be okay until you go over 35mph and it come back on again. Since then we have checked the cornering fog lights are actually working , which they are She had been carrying a heavy loads ( 2 X German Sheps, 1 X daughter lots of Christmas related pressies be and clothes etc etc ) so we took her car "empty" and did the tyre pressures to rule out the fact the back end was weighed down when may have caused the sensor to loose it forward sight... apparently it's a fail safe when towing things such as caravans. This morning it's happened again . We are going have it booked in to be looked at by a VAG specialist we use. We are assuming it'll be À, Sensor throwing a fault .......(best case) B, Requires an attempt at re-calibration (not known to be reliable as most people report it cures it only for a short while) Ç, Replace the ACC sensor then it'll require a further recalibration. Or D, All of the above fail.......and they scratch their heads All of the above are not going be cheap and the car is unfortunately out of warranty... Since it's basically the same system as what Skoda use i thought it was worth asking the question The car does have a Virtual cockpit, the car doesn't have Blind Spot Monitoring All very odd and we are definitely worried it will be well over a ££££ figure fix....... Many thanks
  3. Yesterday was officially NEW CAR DAY... I've (after much soul searching) parted company with my Mk 3 Superb , it's been a wonderful 3 years but after 3 X Superbs it was time for a change....Sold it privately to a current Superb Owner who wanted a change to a DSG......easy transaction and got a price I was happy with..... I test drove and tried out the following BMW 5 Series Touring New Skoda Superb Volvo V90 Volvo XC60 VW Passat Eventually I decided, trained it from Leeds to Bury St Edmunds yesterday and picked up my new ride https://photos.app.goo.gl/A9744PKbHvQsuiq36 I will miss my Superb a lot it was tested against the best and held it's own to the point I was considering cancelling my car and keeping it........ https://photos.app.goo.gl/sJuiu2yBqDPjmMFs8 As ever I can't help leaving things alone and on Friday it's having it's windows Tintied by globaltint.co.uk and I have order a new console in Open Pore Black Ash to replace the crummy Piano Black Plastic. The reason I went for this one is because some kindly ticket the Driver Assistance Pack Plus Option so I do not loose my Safety Systems fitted to the L&K. Being a Premium Plus it also gained a Pano Rood and a Burmister Stereo, coming from a Canto sound system it was a must to have something meatier than standard, after 4 hours driving home yesterday I can conclude the Burmister Stereo is awesome but gets totally trounced by the Canton in Superb....I will need to investigate added a sub......!! The ride in E220 is really good, equally if not more comfortable than the Superb but certainly deals with potholes, intrusions and uneven road surfaces without crashing through them like the Superb used to....Its also quieter than the Superb, but not by much ...... I will continue to lurk around these quarter.. I can certainly say the MB owners Forum is not as good as this one.! Thanks for all the advice along the way ...Its been emotional
  4. A few weeks ago it froze hard overnight , I went to go and open my car and the handle would not open it At first I assumed the door had frozen shut so gave it another good tug No joy So I got in the passenger side and pulled the latch and the door opened Ever since the driver's door handle has been tempormental and feels like some surfaces are rubbing against each other as it it's rather stiff and just doesn't feel the same as the other door handles anymore This morning , it was -3 same issue the door would not open after I opened it via the door handle (keyless entry) I didn't re try this time , just got in the passenger side , pulled the latch and the door opened I closed the door again and tried the door handle and it still wouldn't open . I then grabbed the door handle and applied upwards pressure to it whilst pulling on it and it then opened Something isnt right , probably my fault when it stuck the first time and broken / dislodged something Gonna have to get it booked in to have it looked at unless anyone has a remedy. fear of it coming off in my hand have been had ..lol Something is definitely a miss and it's hard to describe but it doesn't open on the first go unless you apply a bit of upwards pressure and it does feel like some spring/part is rubbing against something it shouldn't ... Clues anyone ??
  5. You'll be amazed how much dirt build up you get in then rubber seal around the windows They also clean well with vinegar and a cotton rag The single most frustrating thing I find about cleaning windows is the lint residue left by microfibers left over from washing your drying and buffing towels. Try using a clay bar and really give the glass a good once over , clean the glass and clean the seals... I'm still amazed at how effective good old Vinegar/Water in a spray bottle , gloves and a newspaper can actually be....
  6. The face lifted VW Passat got wireless Airplay and the capacitive steering wheel that the new Superb was not privy to as they are too "new" to be allowed in a Skoda News is they will come after the PHEV launches next year or maybe for the MY21 as mentioned above. I've never actually had an issue in plugging my phone in, keeps it fully charged I think a Superb now has a USB (still no type C connector , grrr) in the armrest...that's useful ...and was such a miss on the MK3 considering they have a place to tuck a tablet away in there
  7. Yay they turned up in just 4 days http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-beautiful-LED-safety-door-lights-GHOST-ligh So I can see there are four plastic clips holding them in the door But How do I get the old ones out safely.......? Many thanks in advance
  8. To give you a rough estimate you are probably looking between £180-£230 per panel to put right using an independant company As with all scratches if you wet the scratch and it's invisible to the eye the yes, a compound and polish would get the majority of it out If the scratch still remains when wet then no amount of compounding or polishing will remove it as it's through the clear coat. Keyed cars are unfortunately usually the latter do to nature of the beast... Also just because the paint is non metallic unfortunately doesn't mean you get away 'blending issues' like with metallic/pearl paints , it's less of a hassel but would still need the vast majority if not the whole panel repainting. If you do decided to try have a go with some compound/polish product go over the area with some Glaze (Poorboy's is around £12 a bottle) then wax it . Glaze acts like makeup for cars and can hide minor swirls and scratches. It does wash off so best to wax or even seal and wax your work. There are many things in this world that happen then simply baffles me. Keying someone's car for no good reason is simply NOT ON....... Hope you get it sorted !!!
  9. Mines was done at a cost of £189 at DM Keith Leeds with 45k on the clock ...5k over the recommended but they said it was in perfect order .... That was an expensive day......£580 on Servicing , DSG Service and Brake Fluid Change ....it still baffles me why a brake fluid change isn't part of a £289 major service ... Can I tell the difference..???..nope...lol...but its worth it for peace of mind
  10. My home town(ish) Currently live in Heckmondwike....lots of found memories of the Head of Steam pub at Huddersfield Station when I was at New College up New Hey Road ....
  11. That I could live with for being my own stupid fault but this is the opposite mirror. It was there one day and gone the next ...only thing I did was pressure wash the car .... Another mystery ....
  12. Try to decide if any of these will actual look good in real life I keep looking at the rear and thinking it needs something to finish it off .. Just day dreaming at the moment, no seriously intent on doing it ASAP http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-original-Martinek-Auto-exhaust-like-RS-STYLE-spoilers-RS230-BLACK http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-original-Martinek-Auto-exhaust-like-spoilers-ALU http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-original-Martinek-auto-exhaust-like-spoilers-ALU-GLOWING-RED http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-original-Martinek-Auto-exhaust-like-spoilers-RS-style
  13. If you reverse out of a garage close enough to the door to catch the mirror housing It comes off pretty easily .... This didn't happen to me the other week at all at 5am in the morning Luckily it clips back on with no issues On another note I am still looking at this every day which annoys me to hell . It got lost when I was using a pressure washer https://photos.app.goo.gl/oWJSSpSkuTKoZuq56 Spares from your replacements would be awesome ....lol.....
