I am once again posting my problem becuase you guys got confused.

So I have 2011 Skoda Laura(known as Octavia globally) MK2. Recently, i am facing a issue with interior lights( lights placed on roof ). When keeping lights on the door position(refer pic below). they should go off once we start engine but they are not going off. They are going off only when i lock the car from remote. They are behaving like i have put them on ON position. Rear lights are not working in any of three position. PLEASE HELP!

(No door is left open ).

Re, the rear................Firstly please confirm that you have tried a bulb that you know works (ie in another fitting).

Re, the front...............I (or someone) will get back to you after I look at mine as i cannot remember where the switch is that switches it off (the door switch, that is).

Questions.........

                     (a)  does the front light turn off with the light switch in the off position???

                     (b)  do your map lights turn on and off correctly, Independently of the light in the mid-front???

                      (c) when you say 'recently', is this an issue that has only just become apparent.........how long have you had the car and                                                                    this fault???

                      (d) have you tried putting the roof switch in other positions to see if it behaves as you wish (maybe someone has messed with                                                        it and wired it incorrectly.

All important questions if you can answer.

Yes, in the rear i have tried a new bulb but it is not working in rear.

(A) yes they turn off in off position.

(B) yes the map lights are working fine.

(C) Car is 2011 model and i am facing this issue from a week now.

(D) in other position it is working fine.

I don't think someone has messed up with my car.

I wonder why...

On the other hand, you're saying that Skoda (VW) decided we are too lazy/stupid to operate manually our trivial dome lights so they decided to use a computer for that???

If yes, how many useless devices are enough for the driver and his passengers feel comfortable and pampered? An a$$ tickler device, anyone?

Anyways, my bet is on some faulty unreliable door microswitches. Typical VW plastic technology...

Re the front not switching off on door closing............based on your answers logic says broken door (micro?) switch.

Maybe possibly a short in the wiring but i would think this not so likely.

I would possibly agree with the switch sticking if the light wasn't working, but it is. (assuming they operate in the way i'm thinking).

Re the rear not working...........you state you have fitted a new bulb..........just to confirm............do you know this new bulb actually works???

A few folk have given ideas on this already which are worth checking first.

Remove the lights (very easy to pop out) and look them over and visually check the wiring too.

Your car is a good bit newer than mine but i doubt these things have changed much...good luck.
