vw rcd510 fitted to my fabia but doesnt work on key

Featured Replies

hi ive fitted a vw rcd510 dab to my 10 plate fabia mk2 and ive noticed that it doesnt come on or go off with the ignition key for some reason , is these a quick fix for this please

The ACC wire, (often red) stands for accessory, and this should allow the unit to turn on when the key is turned to the accessory position. However, this can sometimes cause battery drain, so I recommend having it looked at by a specialist if you’re not sure.

hope this helps!

On newer VAG cars like the Fabia 2 the radio is shut down by CAN signals not hard wired.

Did You have the same problem with the original radio?

do you have vcds?

I think you have to connect canbus wires or you have to get a canbus simulator to simulate the canbus process.

Should just work,  assuming you are using the standard wiring looms, fitted both RNS 315 and now RNS 510 into my Fabia and both work as they should.

A Fabia II from 2010 might either have the CAN 1.6 or CAN 2.0. An RCD510 is a CAN 2.0 and you might need an adapter.
