Oil temperature 1.8 tsi

Hi All Skoda users,

 

Despite the fact that partially I saw similar post, I have a question regarding the oil temperature in Superb 1.8 tsi.

 

My car shows this temp between 105 deg (in normal city drive) up to 115 deg (on motorway). Is it normal temperature or a bit too high? 

Users on polish page on fb stated that a bit too high, as most.of them mentioned that the range in their cars is between 95 to 105 deg.

 

I want to ask you about your experience. How does it look like in your case? And what is the oil temp that should make me worry about the engine condition? One of the Skoda dealers said that 120 deg is correct temp and there is no need to worry. 

 

Please share your experience.

106 was the maximum temperature ever experienced before engine rebuild due excessive oil consumption (30K km ago / 14 mo) . Now 102 is the maximum number displayed regardless inner or outer city condition of driving. 

I believe that 115 need some attention.

@Slavo Welcome. In a UK city even in a summers day 105*oc Indicated might be a bit high, then the 115*oC might be OK and 120*oC high.

 

The Dealer or someone in a Dealership might be talking nonsense. I suspect they are.

 

But you do not say which city, what ambient temp, what oil is in the engine.  That would help people know something about your situation.

thank you for the answers given so far.

 

The current oil I have is Ravenol SSL 0W-40, changed about 1,5 kkm ago. But since the engine repair the oil temp is always a too high. I do not remember the temp before the rebuild, as it was not my top priority interest.

Even today I was driving to work, no traffic jam, temp outside about 19-20 deg and the oil has reached 102 deg. 

 

I'm worry about this engine condition if the repair was done properly...

Why Ravenol and why 0W40? Why not willing to respect the manufacturer recommendation ? 5W30

Oil temperature should be first reading as importance to use high revs and properly lubricate turbo.

VW's recommended 5w 30 Full synthetic Long Life oil has killed plenty Euro 5 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's.

 

A good 0w 40 FS to VW502 is perfect really, or even 5w 40 Full Synthetic.
