TCS problem help!

Featured Replies

I have a problem with my Octavia 2002, a yellow warning lights randomly comes up that says "Traction Controll", about 2 times out of 10 when i start the car.

Theese are the following things ive done

*Cleaned and measured all the four abs-sensors and they measuring great with an multimeter. Also checked the abs wreath, cleaned them with a steel brush.

*removed the abs controll unit and send it in for reparation, got it back and placed it back.

*replaced the camshaft sensor

*cleaned contacts and sensors in the engine compartment for the abs

*checked all the fuses and they are ok

* restored an earth point near the abs controll unit that was dirty

I dont have to do anyting for the yellow lamp to start lightning, things like brake, steering right or left. Most of the times the TCS lamp lights up when i start the car, but it can also just light up when driving.

If the car is running with the lamp on, and i stop the car and start it again the lamp can be gone, most of the time..

My ideas of finding the problem starts to run out

Anyone?

Cheers from Sweden.

Have you plugged it into vcds and run a fault scan?

Could be an old code that hasnt been cleared but one of your steps above may have actually fixed.

+1 as above, even if you haven't fixed the issue, at least you can see any sensor readings out of spec or failing with a VCDS scan

I was having simular issue with MK2 - had to switch on and off a number of times to start engine - changed  wheel sensors and battery, but problem persisted. Subsequently had Clutch Soft pedal and then no pedal. Replaced Master cylinder - worked for about week, TCS Error returned.and then pedal failure.  Replaced Slave Cylinder/Thrust Release Bearing and has worked fine for two months or more since
