Roomster DSG

Featured Replies

Morning Guys.. I’m looking at getting back into Skoda Ownership after a break of 20 odd years.. I was looking at buying a small van and in Czech they sell a Roomster called the Practik, which is basically a Roomster without seats and windows.. However I was looking at buying one of the late model Roomsters and just taking the seats out as and when.. My question is, when I look online, there is a lot of negativity in relation to the DSG engine... are they that bad.. I’d be looking at one of the last ones ideally with a low mileage.. Many thanks for any feedback.

The DSG is an automated transmission, not an engine. Also it's a developing technology, so later examples are better than earlier ones.

Welcome.

The DQ200 7 speed DSG's have had issues from 2009-2012 and a Service Campaign,  '34F7'

Oil change and software.  World Wide Recall just not in Europe.

Then late 2012 there are some dodgy ones failing now, 'Flashing white Spanner issue'  These were not part of the Service Campaign or World Wide Recall.

Then 2013-2015 there was another Service Campaign, '34H5'.   Software

So later ones can still have issues.

(Then 2015-2018 there is the Clutch Slip issue, More software updates and clutch updates. So VW never learn..... really.)

The issues are small in number compared to the amount of DQ200 DSG's that are built, but still a lottery.
