In the past....

Featured Replies

So came across something intriguing in the service receipts that came with my newly purchased Fabia Greenline 2008 1.4tdi. In 2013 the service receipt state cambelt due but check with records. It carries on to say do not replace as done in 2011 ( car 3 yes old) when balance shaft changed. Having read about the problems these engines can have with balance shaft/ chain issue would like to find out more as to what was done. Car would have done 50,000 by then so seems early to have these probs. I rang the dealer who did the work expecting to get not a lot if any help but a very nice lady checked for me ,but all she could confirm was work was done but apart from a crankshaft seal no parts were listed. She mentioned that Skoda changed their way of storing service history a few years later.

I've tried the Skoda app but cannot get the service history up. Definitely notes balance shaft changed but no paperwork to confirm it. Is there anywhere else I can try, short of writing to the previous owner with an sae? Ps car on 110,000 miles now. Thanks

Yes Skoda went for 'Memory Loss',

dropped 'Das Auto',  went 'Honesty is the best policy, so ask us no questions, we will tell you no lies.

Hopefully some 14 TDI expert will be along, or Derren Brown.
