Fabia Mk 1 driver's door lock cylinder replacement

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever replaced a driver's door lock cylinder, how tricky is i?

I've done it, it was so simple I've forgotten exactly what I did.

It's kind of self explanatory when you get it to bits.

Thanks sepulchrave. I've had a look but I'm just not sure if I need to undo both screws under the rubber grommets. Also, I'm worried about the screws dropping into the door interior. I'll keep searching t'internet.

Or just follow the guide I made on here

Many thanks Techle. I'll have a go based on your guide. I got a bit worried cos my Haynes Manual told me to take the top screw out completely.  Do I need to worry about the Bowden cable if I'm only removing the lock cylinder and not the handle?

Don't  take either of them out completely.

Screw 2 turns a locking ring that holds the cylinder in place. Screw 1 nips the cylinder to hold it tight....

You don't need to remove the bowden cable if only removing the cylinder.
