Auto wipers

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

My rain sensitive wipers have decided to start operating regardless of the sunshine we are currently enjoying. Is there a way to reset the wipers (i know they can be turned off) or is this a fault that requires the sensor to be changed?

The wipers do the same on my 245. I think the bright sunshine and shadows cause the oddity, I just leave mine to get on with it or if it gets bad just flick there stalk to off.

It's always worth cleaning the window in front of the rain sensor - a lot of small flies can simulate rain.

Does the OP mean they’re still operating in the ‘Off’ position, or in the ‘Active’ position.

If the latter, I’d turn them to ‘Off’ when it’s not raining. As said, bugs, dirt etc will trigger them.  You might even find the manual says leave them in the ‘Off’ position when it’s not raining.

It's possibly the sensor on it's way out - mine did this, getting progressively worse over a year or so, also giving warning messages about the auto lights. The sensor is behind the rear view mirror, a main dealer will charge £100's (unless you're under warranty of course), but the sensors are available on eBay for about £50.

Thanks all, looks like the sensor maybe on its last legs, windows are clean and free of bugs. Will look into buying a replacement and look for some vids on how to change it.

I have just ordered a sensor from Germany with a view to fitting it myself, paid €44 delivered.

Should be here Wednesday / Thursday.

The fault can also be accompanied by an Auto Light error, leaving / coming home lights not working properly.

Looks very straightforward to swap out.
