New engine fitted by Skoda. Fix applied obviously. Cost them about £4,000.

Done now

  • I really don't think you can blame skoda for saying not our problem when they are presented with a 10 year old car with a major issue that wasn't of their doing and quite frankly if you really needed

  • Was just about to say, if this happened 5,000 miles since having the belt replaced then you need to be knocking on the door of the garage who replaced it...   Sounds like a happy ending is o

  • Err yeah it’s called liability insurance.    As a business you have to have it.

Sorry if this is just my stupidity but can you explain,

did Skoda / VW suppy a new engine and have it fitted to your car at an Authorised Dealership, or where did Skoda have a new engine fitted?

Skoda fitted a brand new engine to my 10 year old car AT a franchised dealership. Their genuine parts broke it, they HAD to fix it.

Only took 2 months to fix!

Glad you got it sorted in the end.

Still see your are upset with the dealer even though they had nothing to do with the repair, NOT their fault, warranty is with TPS.

You were lucky someone didn't pick up on the notice must be given to TPS within 24 hours of the failure clause in their warranty terms and conditions.

I suspect you won't be trusting your indie to do any more cambelt work on your car.

TPS WERE informed within 24 hours of the belt failure. As per THEIR t+C's they get a stealer to check the car. Obviously being VW owned, they will be biased hence the 2 months to get it fixed.

Lots of time wasting, being fobbed off and customer services being less than satisfactory didn't help.

It's fixed now, and as for anything else; undecided.

I am surprised tps's warranty doesn't have a consequential damages exclusion many companies do.
