1.2TDICR update ‘not available’?

Featured Replies

Just been to my local Skoda dealership for the emissions recall, (yes I know about the reliability issues that many have, but I don’t like the idea of the car producing more emissions than it should), but having booked the car in over a week in advance, driving to the garage and leaving it for an hour, I was told that Skoda haven’t released an update for the 1.2TDICR yet.

Hmm... I’m sure that I’ve heard of someone with a 1.2TDI Polo who had it done, and it is widely known that the 1.2 is part of the EA189 recall.

Does this sound like BS to you?

Thanks

@CS45   You car would not put out less emissions as you drive it.

Only if it was tested as the original tests inside a building and maybe not even then.  It will have less emissions as well if The Fix kills your car.

Does your car come up here.

They did release an update, just before the 1.6 TDI CR update.

Is yours the CFWA engine

Thanks for replies, the engine is indeed CFWA, and the VIN check states that the recall is available.

I would avoid like the plague if you have a good running car.

What are the problems that tend to arise with the CFWAs? I’ve heard about the 1.6tdi being ruined by it, but the less common 1.2 doesn’t seem to have as much info on it. Could you shed some light?

You need to look at posts from those with them in VW's maybe.

Not a common engine in the Skoda, and then how many had it done, especially if a muppet like you met said 'Not available'.

It was introduced for VW's sake, so that it looked like they did something, not to save the planet or actual emissions out on the road.

An update to this, just received a letter (through signed for post, weirdly) from the dealer stating that they have just been made aware by Skoda of workshop work to be done to my car. Hmm...

If it does turn out to be emissions fix they want to do, you have convinced me to steer clear, whether Skoda like it or not.
As far as I’m aware it wasn’t mandatory anyway.

@CS45

It certainly is not mandatory.   Very odd you were told previously it was not available for your car.

Check again maybe just incase some other Recall Action / Service Campaign.

OK, to add to the confusion, just used the vin check website that you linked to, and apparently, my car is neither affected by the EA189 action, or any other recalls. That’s great, but now created two more mysteries, why did the vin checker tell me initially that it was, and what to the garage want know?!😬

I will call them and update

thanks for your help

Cheers, they did say it wasn’t safety related, but I’m going to check anyway.
