Difficulty in shifting change

Featured Replies

Hello fellows

I have a problem with my 2004 1.4 petrol engine that I've already identified with some wear on the plastic part under the shift lever. I mean the element made of teflon.
In practice with this wear or I have difficulty in shifting the 5th gear or (moving the screw )I get problem in the 1st and reverse gear.
Can someone tell me if  already had this problem and tell me if it is possible to buy only the Teflon piece, or involves buying a kit with everything?

Thanks in advance

You need to reset the cable linkage before trying anything else.

Have a look at this video on how to reset the linkage.

OK,

I already did this operation of the cables in the home position but there is there is really a wear on the tip of the teflon piece. Does anyone know the name or reference?

I saw earlier this week this home position calibrating video.

I had a similar problem, but on a Mk.2, which was cured with lubricating shift mechanism on top of gearbox as detailed in below replies. Probably worth a try.
