Lotus day

Featured Replies

A mate of mine brought a Lotus Elise around for me to have a look at. Its an old one (1987) but looked in great shape, in fact it looked like it was doing 100 mph just sitting there.

Problem I had was getting in it, holy ****e its cramped in there. I could only just squeze in, I couldnt press the accelerator pedal without pressing the brake. So that was it no test drive for me  Then to top it all off I had to crawl on the floor to get out (much to my small mates amusement):finger:

Anyone drove one of these cos it looks like a complete nightmare and now im thinking if I win the lottery I may not be able to own any low slung super cars.

Isn't that an Esprit?

Hi

Drove a four cylinder turbo one a few years ago. Cramped, less than reliable, absolutely brilliant to drive. I could be tempted to a V8 one, but frightened of the reliablity issues and gearboxes (Renault 25) are getting scarce too.

ESPRIT

My old man used to have one of those that he sold just before I could drive. Yes, it was a pig to get in and out of, and a bit dated, but great car that always put a smile on my face even though it was a non turbo model. It was also quite reliable, he had it for about 4 years, with no major howlers apart from when the gearbox decided to give up the ghost and drop oil and chards of gearbox everywhere one day...
