Commonplace or not?

Featured Replies

Are these `issues' commonplace or worthy of investigation prior to my warranty ending this year?

Suspension creak and squeak noise when driving over speed bumps slowly. Never noticed before but driving with the radio off I can hear it clearly.

DSG inconsistent lower gear changes in E mode. Rather snatchy up to gear 4. 6 speed DSG.

Passenger window glass creaking when lowering.

Drivers window when half open rattles and clicks especially if road surface is a little rougher than normal.

Drivers seat base height seems to drop and require raising every time I get in the car.

Drivers seat creaking.

Headlamp has range has never been good. Always appears to be dipped to much,  illuminates approx 1 car length ahead.

Suspension creak will most likely be wear and not covered by warranty at best a little lubrication might help for the short time.

DSG gearbox on mine was a bit hit and miss at low speeds and junctions so probably just how they are. I was never a fan of DSG around town.

Passenger window try spraying a silicone oil around the rubber trim the glass slides into at the sides and top of the door frame, normally works to get of creaks and speeds up the window operation too.

Drivers window sounds like warranty work but rattle and creaks is supposed to be within the first 6 months only so probably won't get anywhere with it.

Drivers seat creaking same as above but try with a warranty claim as it shouldn't drop and sounds like the cables are slipping.

headlights should have the right beam pattern and if not they should adjust them

Suspension noise is quite common around here. Have a search

I assume you have Bi-Xenon? needs to be enabled in software or they don't work correctly, Can you see the light beam adapting at different speeds?

Mine was the same when I got it, lights really low, I think the dealer must have done a download or "version check" when I complained as they work corerectly now.

Yes bi-xenon adaptive lights so yes they can be seen to adjust when turning and speed variance yet for example at 60/70mph the light thrown forward is merely 1 car length ahead.

My passenger window has just started screeching on its rubbers. Gummi plege dod not work, time for some silicone spray.

Also have the creaking front suspension on two Superbs.

Could be a cracked/broken spring which is a consumable like brakes etc

Could be the ARB bushes!

There is a SB to lubricate silent blocks with silicone grease on the front axle.

DSG6 control logic have been modified to pass Euro6 successfully, but it dowgrades the behavior and smoothness compared to previous SW version (Sales Manager information by my local dealer). It also noticeable in D mode.

I personnally envision to have my DSG6 remapped to avoid useless downshifting when exiting a roundabout or when feathering throttle pedal in uphills. The available torque is under-exploited.

I don't face this problem. Sorry, I can't help you... 😞

I had play in the left rail of my driver seat (electric version). It was very easy to feel it when turning right or braking.

It was changed under warranty @ 30000 km

Note: I only weight ~150 lb...

There is a SB to upgrade the SW version. Sometimes the initilialization phase doesn't run properly and the headlights beam lights way to short (only 10m ahead in my case). Sometimes I also had right headlight correctly initialized but left one to low, lighting only 10m ahaed.

The SW upgrade solved the problem.

Hope this helps!...
