Replacement OEM exhaust box.

Featured Replies

Car passed its MOT today Yay! Two advisories.

- Rear left wheel bearing (noise is driving me bonkers so booked in for replacement on Monday).

- Rear exhaust box "fraying" - is the word I'd use.

So, looking for an OEM-like Fabia VRS back-box. I've seen a few for £70+ on eBay but ISTR from long ago that the chrome tip that covers the pipes is a separate part?

Anyways, looking for something un-noisy that fits and looks appropriate.

You can still get the OE exhaust rear silencers from TPS, and they are not hugely expensive. Plus you know they'll last donkeys years if originality is important

What does fraying mean ?

If it's just corrosion on the outer skin of the box then leave it.

On mine the outer skin has all rusted away (years ago) on the bottom of the rear exhaust box but this has shown that the main part of the box is stainless.

Yeah, the outer shell has disappeared completely from the bottom. But if the inner is stainless.... I guess I'll have to heave the ramps out again to have a look.

My car had two years of advisory on MOT  "exhaust deteriorated"

I had advisories on the rear box for 5 years, never did change it. It didn't blow so no reason to.
