Tank Capacity and range.... again

Featured Replies

From the beginning Karoq giving me hard time to understand it tank capacity. On Superb3 it was easy:  when computer showed 0 - i was able to fill 64-66 L of diesel. On Karoq , I did last time 900km on full tank , 50km of this range was with blinking red led and "0" on the range , before that it was another 120km with just red led. However I only was able to fill 44.5 L of diesel in to 50 ( by the book ) tank of 2WD Karoq. Did anyone over tested real capacity ? I mean did anyone drive till the dead stop ? What are  the results ?
At the same time I am very pleased with accuracy of consumption measurement - 5L by the dashboard and exactly the same by the calculation.

The tank is definitely 50 litres capacity and based on most reports may be up to 5 litres larger.

Premature empty indication reports are not uncommon for diesels but far less so for petrol ( I cannot actually remember one).

I have always assumed this was a 'feature' to avoid running too low, or out of fuel because some sort of damage may ensue. Not sure what but maybe the fuel pump in the bottom of the tank overheating, or the high pressure pump?

I'll add there was no indication the tank was about to run out either.......no stuttering or similar....I'm happy it'll go, if pushed, another 50 miles past '0' on the MFD.
