Car WiFi/phone hotspot/Skoda connect

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have a 2017 kodiaq edition which doesn't have a SIM slot and and I'm trying to be clever and make the car Wi-Fi work.

I tried connecting the car WLAN to my phone hotspot and then going to Skoda connect but I just get an error message when I go to Skoda connect.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, not in the right order, or you're going to tell me I can't make this work I want to!

Is someone able to talk me through whether I can connect the car to the Wi-Fi? (I was hoping to be able the car sat nav "do more" as I find it pretty useless and have to revert to using Waze or Google maps. I'd love to see real time traffic traffic on there as a start.

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Or am I just being useless and need to do things in a specific order that I'm not doing or heavens forbid doing something wrong!

I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks in advance

Sarah

Log onto Skoda connect on your phone or PC and see if your account is verified. I hd to visit my chosen Skoda service partner to get this done.

On visiting they showed no interest or knowledge about it until 1 guy (they kept asking other staff) said he remembered something about it on the training but couldn't remember.

I was persistent, so they agreed to ring Skoda UK and get back to me. I showed them my licence and log book to verify ID as the app can unlock the car.

A few days later I re-visited dealer and they pretended they had emailed Skoda and were waiting for a response. Later that day they phoned me and said I had to call in with my ID ...

I explained that was what I  had done and they agreed, they took my driving licence number and verified my account, it now shows as verified.

I can log on, connect to wifi etc but the app wont connect to the car from my phone. Still not figured that one out. I also don't have a sim card slot unless its well hidden.

Are you sure the unit in the glove box hasn’t got a SIM card slot.

Hey, I'm definitely sure there's no SIM slot. Just an SD card slot.

Mostly when things go wrong. Restart, delete settings and do it again.

Reinstall app.

You can Connect to wifi even if you have sim.

Maybe need to update your infotaiment.

You should activate your car in skoda Connect without beeing connected to your car. You scan your vin number under windscreen etc etc.

Recomend you to follow guide in manual.
